The National Arts Learning Network is working with South East London Lifelong Learning Network (SELLLN) to develop progression pathways to higher education for apprentices completing the level 3 Apprenticeships in the London area. The Creative and Cultural Skills Sector Skills Council have developed 6 apprenticeships that are delivered at level 2 and level 3 and recruitment to these apprenticeships started in 2008. This work aims to set up progression pathways from these apprenticeships and give apprentices who are interested in progressing to level 4 provision the skills they need to study successfully at this level.
SELLN are funding Goldsmiths, University of London to develop the “Progress to HE” module which aims to develop academic skills for students wishing to progress to HE in the context of personal and professional development in the creative industries. The project at Goldsmiths will also explore appropriate models of delivery based on funding and student take up and location. The module will have academic credit attached and is planned for delivery in September 2009.
