FdA to BA Progression

Whilst progression within an institution from Foundation Degree (FdA) to BA happens regularly, students wishing to top up at a different institution can meet barriers. Research carried out by NALN identified that there is no common model regarding articulation from FdA to BA.

Mobility between institutions is often difficult for many students due to personal or domestic constraints. It does take place, but has not been formally promoted to students.  This means that students have had to to investigate progression opportunities independently, rather than building on relationships which are already established.

NALN has mapped FdA provision from NALN institutions onto NALN Top up provision with capacity to recruit. This is aimed at students on FdAs wishing to explore opportunities to top up at other institutions, and course tutors supporting those students.

You can download here a list of NALN institutions' FdAs and the Top-Up provision which students graduating from these FdAs can expect to progress to.  Please note that the document is over 80 pages long and you may prefer to view it onscreen.
