'Creative Connections' has used action research and consultation to:
• identify key barriers to progression for vocational students
• analyse curriculum pathways and the changes connected to the Creative and Media 14-19 Diploma
• develop and pilot appropriate curriculum materials that could aid the transition from FE to HE
The project has now completed its main stages. One of its major outcomes is a new website providing on-line resources for FE vocational students. Called ‘Creative Connections’, this site is available at: www.fe-art.co.uk It contains easy to use resources on design methods, films covering many aspects of art and design such as graphics, drawing, experimentation, a day with an artist and information on business and enterprise themes.
The project partners, the APSCAD colleges (Hereford College of Art s( Lead institution), Leeds College of Art, Plymouth College of Art, and Cleveland College of Art and Design) have considerable experience of running vocational FE courses for students, many of whom progress to Higher Education. Their involvement has been key to all stages of the project, particularly the development and piloting of materials.
